MSC gets green light as major shareholder in HHLA
NewsHamburg’s city parliament approved MSC’s entry as a major shareholder in HHLA, despite opposition, with final approval pending from the European Commission.
HPC Hamburg Port Consulting GmbH, part of HHLA, has won a contract to advise the Albanian Ministry of Transport (MoT) on the privatisation of the Port of Durres, including development of criteria for a concession agreement. The contract, financed by the World Bank, is valid for 19 months and includes the secondment of three HPC experts to Durres.
Durres is Albania’s biggest port and has a throughput of 2 mill tons/year, mostly conventional general cargo and bulk. Export of chrome ore was recently restarted.
