Containerised bulk for Global Ports Group
NewsRussia’s Global Ports Group has purchased a fleet of specialised bulk containers to support its new bulk cargo export customers.
SITC International Shipping Group has launched its ‘COWIN’ specialist container exporting steel coils from China to Southeast Asia and Korea.
The COWIN container is designed with a V-shaped floor depression accessed via hinged covers. The covers can be opened to support steel coils, or closed to provide a flat floor for other cargo. The angle of the V-shaped groove can be adjusted to accommodate different sized coils, and the design also features heavy-duty lashing points for heavy coils.
At the end of August, an event was held at Xiamen to mark the launch of containerised coil logistics from the Chinese port. It was attended by Xue Mingyuan, president of SITC International Shipping Group, Lai Zhiyong, president of Logistics Group, Meng Xianliang, general manager of Container Transport Xiamen, Pan Wenliang, general manager of Logistics Xiamen, and Wang Shangyi, general manager of SITC COWIN.
“Changing from bulk to the container transportation mode is a major policy for China,” stated SITC International. “SITC’s innovative professional coiled steel container transportation model not only complies with the national policy, but also provides our customers with lower cost and better service transportation solutions. In the future, we will continue to work together with all ports and related colleagues to provide our customers with better services.
