Kalmar to supply more heavy terminal tractors to Uniport

Uniport Livorno returns to Kalmar for three TR618i heavy terminal tractors, set for delivery in Q4, 2024.

Kalmar, part of Cargotec, has inked an agreement with Uniport Srl. to supply three Kalmar TR618i heavy terminal tractors. The order was booked in Cargotec’s Q2 2024 order intake, and the machines are scheduled to be delivered during Q4 of 2024.

This deal builds on the existing cooperation between the two companies, as Uniport Livorno’s fleet has included Kalmar T2i terminal tractors for several years.

Uniport is located in the Port of Livorno in northwest Tuscany, one of Italy’s largest seaports, handling a variety of vessel types including RoRo ferries, cruise ships, and various cargo vessels.

“We are very pleased to continue our partnership with Kalmar. The new heavy terminal tractors will play a vital role in achieving our business growth goals and allow us to continue to provide safe, high-quality and reliable service for our many customers,” Jari Defilicaia, President, Uniport Livorno, said.

“This agreement demonstrates our commitment to listening closely to our customers’ needs and delivering solutions that match them perfectly. The reliability of our terminal tractors and the quality of our after-sales service together with our ability to deliver tailored solutions have all played an important part in securing this order,” Stefano Vero, Solutions Sales Representative, Kalmar Italy, said.

The new heavy terminal tractors will be delivered with cabin air suspension, an optional feature to increase comfort for operators during shifts.

The TR618i is Kalmar’s latest 4×4 tractor designed for RoRo and heavy industry applications. It features increased window space with less reflective glass, enhancing the driver’s view. It can also be fitted with an optional roof-mounted window.

RoRo tractors generally have rotating consoles, allowing the driver to face forward even when pushing a trailer up a ramp in reverse. The TR618i offers asymmetrical rotation, giving the driver a better side view when reversing.

All service points are accessed through a single-hinged cabinet at ground level. Fuses and diagnostic readouts are easily reachable, and the air filter can be changed from ground level at the front of the machine.

The Kalmar TR618i tractor will be on display at TOC Europe.
