Nigeria’s largest RoRo multipurpose terminal, Port and Terminal Multiservices Limited (PTML), has procured a LHM 600 mobile harbour crane, valued at over €7 million.

Port and Terminal Multiservices Limited (PTML), Nigeria’s largest RoRo multipurpose terminal, has acquired a Liebherr Mobile Harbour Crane LHM 600.

Liebherr confirmed the acquisition to WorldCargo News, saying the crane was delivered in parts and that the assembly commenced on May 6. The company estimates that the official handover will be completed by the end of May.

The crane is valued at over € 7 million. According to Ascanio Russo, PTML’s Managing Director, the terminal has also allocated an additional €3.2 million to reinforce Berth 11, ensuring it is capable of supporting the new crane, Nigeria’s New Telegraph reports.

“Our priority is to ensure timely service delivery to shipping lines and our landside customers,” Russo said. “We take pride in providing top-tier service while maintaining a conducive environment for all approved government agencies operating at our terminal.”

The addition of the new mobile harbour crane is expected to enhance productivity and accommodate a wider range of vessels, particularly gearless vessels visiting the terminal.

The LHM 600 has the capacity to handle loads of up to 208 tonnes and manage containers, general, and bulk cargoes. Additionally, with an outreach of up to 61 meters, it is well-suited for handling ships up to Neo-Panamax size.

PTML Terminal, owned and developed by the Grimaldi Group, represents a greenfield terminal. It handles 150,000 TEU per annum, and has the capacity to handle 400,000 vehicles. Based on the company’s website information, PTML already has two mobile cranes, 11 reach stackers, 8 empty handlers and 7 RoRo heavy duty tractors.
