From 1 March 2019 Varekamp Coldstores Holland BV will be independent, following an MBO from current Dutch parent company Kloosterboer Group
The new sole owner is Willem Nowee, the company’s Managing Direcor since 2005. "Nothing will change as far as customer service is concerned," he told worldcargonews online. "it is our ambition to continue expanding our services as we have done over the past few years."
The coldstore is located in Poeldijk, just north of the port of Rotterdam in the heart of Holland’s massive greenhouse vegetables and flowers growing area, the Westland. Nonetheless, Varekamp mainly handles fruit through its more than 7,000 pallet positions in 28 cooling cells.
Alex Kloosterboer, CEO of Kloosterboer, noted that the Varekamp coldstore is no longer strategic for his group, now that it operates its new 40,000 pallet position Cool Port facilities in Rotterdam, at the former ECT Home (or City) terminal on the Eemhaven basin.
Varekamp Coldstores Holland was founded in 1953 and was acquired by Kloosterboer in 2013.
Nowee Fresh Logistics Holding is the newly established vehicle for the MBO.
