Peter Voser takes over as Chairman of PSA International; Jae-Hoon Bae succeeds C K Yoo at Hyundai Merchant Marine; Claude Lebel has taken over from Kari Pekka Laaksonen at Containerships; new man at EPI Iquique; Renee Toh named to key post at CEVA Logistics
Singapore: PSA International Pte Ltd (PSA) has announced that Fock Siew Wah will step down as Group Chairman on 1 April 2019, and assume the role of Special Advisor to PSA until his retirement on 31 July 2019. Peter Voser (pictured left), currently Deputy Chairman, will be taking on the role of Group Chairman of the PSA Board.
Fock is one of PSA’s longest serving Chairmen, taking on the post in August 2005. Since then PSA Group’s global footprint has grown to its current day span of over 50 coastal, inland and rail terminals in 17 countries, and volumes have doubled to more than 80M TEU a year.
Voser is a former CEO of Royal Dutch Shell, and has also held Boards posts with Aegon and UBS. He serves with the Singapore Economic Development Board on its International Advisory Council, and current Board positions nclude Chairmanships of ABB Ltd, the Board of Trustees of the St Gallen Foundation for International Studies, and Directorships for Roche Holdings Limited, Temasek Holdings, IBM Corporation and Catalyst, Inc.
At the AGM of Hyundai Merchant Marine in Seoul last week, shareholders accepted a recommendtation from Korea Development Bank to appoint Jae-hoon Bae as the line’s new President and Managing Director. Bae joins HMM from Pantos Logistics, where he was CEO for six years. He replaces C K Yoo, who reportedly told staff in February that he would be leaving.
Marseille, France: CMA CGM has rung the changes at Containerships, its consolidated name for the short sea businesses of Containerships Oy, MacAndrews and OPDR. Kari Pekka Laaksonen has been replaced as CEO by Claude Lebel, currently CEO of MacAndrews. The whole organisation comes under Containerships Gmbh, with its head office in Hamburg, as of 1st April. Lebel has worked for CMA CGM in various capacities for 12 years and previously worked also for Bolloré, Deugro and OOCL.
Iquique, Chile: Alfredo Leiton is to step down from his post as General Manager of Iquique Port Company on 30th April this year, after a spell of the almost 16 years with the port. He will be succeeded by Ruben Castro Hurtado, currently EPI’s Operations Manager.
Dunkirk, France: Emmanuelle Verger has been named as President of the Supervisory Board of the Port of Dunkirk for a term of five years. A Ponts et Chaussées-trained engineer, Mme Verger has had a distinguished industrial career in France and overseas, with Veolia, EDF and others. Patrice Vergriete has been re-elected as Vice-President of the Supervisory Board, which also approved the renewal of the contract of Stéphane Raison as President of the Management Board (CEO).
Singapore: CEVA Logistics has appointed Mrs Renee Toh as its Global Head of Ocean Procurement & Tradelane Management, with effect from April. She will report directly to CEVA’s Global Head of Ocean, Bertrand Simion. Renee Toh has more than 20 years’ experience, including working for carriers and NVOCCs. She joins CEVA from DHL Global Forwarding, where she led a team of tradelane specialists.
Jesper Moller Petersen is to leave his position as Port Director of the Port of Naestved, after 15 years in post, after what the port describes as a "mutal agreement" with the Board. Michael Baltzer has been appointed to succeed him. The port’s Chairman, Kristian Skov Andersen, said that a new approach was needed to take the port forward.
New York, NY, USA: Shipowners Claims Bureau, Inc. (SCB), Managers of the American Club, has announced several senior appointments which have been made to enhance the capabilities of its global service teams. At the Club’s headquarters in New York, Margaret Lee has been appointed as Lead Counsel. In the Managers’ office in Piraeus, Joanna Koukouli has been appointed as Deputy Global Claims Director, reporting to Global Claims Director Don Moore in New York. Marivi Banou has been appointed as P&I Claims Manager, assisting Joanna Koukouli in the general day-to-day supervision of the Piraeus-based claims team. Finally, Elina Souli was recently recruited by the Managers’ Piraeus office to undertake the roles of FD&D Manager and Regional Business Development Director.
Torino, Italy: Case Construction Equipment announces the appointment of Nicola D’Arpino as Head Sales and Marketing for Europe. He will succeed Jose Cuadrado, as Cuadrado moves to take the position of VP in After Market Solutions for CNH Industrial. D’Arpino’s appointment follows the changes to CNH Industrial’s Global Executive Committee in January 2019, as it enhances the organisational structure to focus on five global operating segments: construction, agriculture, commercial and specialty vehicles, powertrain and financial services. The construction segment continues to be led by Carl Gustaf Göransson, President of Construction.
