RBS - a first in the cloud

Software supplier Real-time Business Solutions (RBS) will provide details of “the first completed implementation of a full TOS that controls all operational processes of the terminal from the cloud” at TOC Europe next week.

RBS, which is based in Sydney Australia and represented in Europe through RBS EMEA (an akquinet subsidiary) launched its cloud product “TOPS Expert Cloud” in 2016, aiming to make the advantages of an integrated real-time TOS accessible to smaller terminals through a pay-per-use model (by TEU). The concept of a cloud-based pay-per-use TOS has been talked about for a long time, but the industry has proved reluctant to embrace the model. RBS, however, believes it has found a successful formula with TOPS Expert Cloud, and will be providing further details at TOC Europe.

RBS is also ready to discuss its progress in terminal automation, where it has supplied the TOS for two automated terminals in Indonesia: Teluk Lamong, which uses Konecranes ASCs; and TPKS Terminal in Semarang, which uses Konecranes automated RTGs. At Teluk Lamong all planning and control of the automated ASC systems is performed by the RBS TOS, and RBS says the system is now supporting STS crane performance of 27 moves per hour and maintaining 100% accuracy of the container inventory in the ASC blocks.
