Termont Montréal Inc. operates two container terminals in Montreal: the long established Maisonneuve Terminal and the newer Viau facility. The company is investing approximately C$42M over the next two years to improve its operational efficiency and complete the second phase at the Viau terminal, at which point it will have the capacity to handle over 1M TEU per year.

As part of its strategy Termont Montréal has selected IDENTEC SOLUTION’s Reefer Runner system for remote monitoring and management of reefer containers at the terminals. The first phase of the installation was completed on October 1 when Reefer Runner went live. When the second phase installation at Viau is completed Termont will become the first terminal to run two separate facilities on the one Reefer Runner system in a multi-terminal application.

When its expansion is complete Termont will have around 1,000 reefer plugs at its two Montreal terminals. Reefer Runner will enable it to automate and remotely manage the reefer monitoring process, providing operational efficiencies while reducing the risk to cargo.

Termont is the first customer in Canada for Reefer Runner and the sixth in North America to use the system. IDENTEC SOLUTIONS is building its client base in both North and South America, where it recently added DP World’s facility in San Antonio, Chile to the client base.

Both Termont’s Terminals terminals in Montreal run the Navis N4 TOS, which IDENTEC SOLUTIONS has integrated with at several different terminals previously. For Termont, the installation went very smoothly: “It was so much easier then expected to implement the system” said Yannick Pilon, Asset Manager at Termont Terminal, “the technicians and operations planners gave us quite positive feedback due to the great technical support and understanding of our needs by IDENTEC SOLUTIONS’ Service Team.”
