While Lebanon’s Port of Beirut is looking for US$35 mill to finance new equipment and management systems (last month’s WorldCargo News, p1) , Israel Ports & Railways Authority (IPRA) is ready to invest a total of NIS6 bill in the next 5-6 years. As previously reported, most of this is being allocated to the building of the Jubilee Port in Ashdod and Carmel Port in Haifa. Work is already under way on the former, while the latter remains at the planning stage.
