The Victorian government in Australia has inaugurated the second phase of its over-haul of the state’s port system with the introduction to Parliament of the Port Services (Port Reform Management) Bill.

Transport Minister Peter Batchelor claims the changes will boost safety and environmental protection, pave the way for the increased prominence of regional ports and provide more focused channel management arrangements.
