China’s ports see 8.1% YoY volume growth in early 2024
NewsLast year, all the Chinese ports handled 16.97 Bt, having exceeded their 2022 volume by nearly 8%. Shanghai throughputs surged, Hong Kong saw a downfall.
Yangshan lifts Shanghai
Throughput at Shanghai, China’s largest containerport, rose 15 per cent to a record 1.63M TEU in January buoyed by volumes at the new Yangshan deepwater port.If this rate of growth is sustained, Shanghai’s throughput will top 20M TEU this year, up from 18.08M TEU in 2005.
