GPA to invest in overpass
NewsIn a bid to reduce truck traffic in local neighbourhoods and cut levels of pollution, Georgia Ports Authority (GPA) is to invest US$29M in the construction of a new overpass.
In line with earlier predictions (see WorldCargo News January 2007, p16), the states of Georgia and South Carolina will settle their long running “turf war” over who has the right to build and regulate a proposed new container terminal on the Savannah River in Jasper County (SC) by forming a bi-state port authority on a 50:50 basis, along the lines of the Port of New York/New Jersey.
