HPH’s European manoeuvres

It has been a busy few weeks in Europe for Hutchison Port Holdings (HPH), the world’s largest container terminal operator. Hard on the heels of forming a 50:50 joint venture with Evergreen to operate the Tàranto Container Terminal (TCT) in Italy (see WorldCargo News December 2008, p1), the company has secured a new terminal development/operating concession in Sweden, taken a majority stake in an existing operation in the Netherlands but withdrawn from a deal it had earlier agreed in Greece.
