New investment for Pointe Noire

DP World is making progress towards building a new container terminal at Banana in the Kongo Central province of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), at the mouth of the Congo River. Currently the port has one small wharf and handles mainly oil.

The governments of Kenya and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) have signed an agreement to promote the use of the Port of Mombasa by Congolese traders. They will be given certain privileges at the port, where Congolese trade accounts for 7.2% of all transit cargo handled today.
