PTP Group in first Paraguay PPP deal

The Argentinian PTP Group has signed what is claimed to be the first PPP agreement in Paraguay and will manage the general cargo port of Villeta, located 40 km downriver from the capital, Asunción, for a period of 20 years. PTP reportedly agreed to pay an annual fee to operate the port and guaranteed minimum cargo levels. Over the last decade, Paraguay’s economy has grown at an annual rate of 10%, requiring a rapid upgrade in port infrastructure to keep up with demand.
