Action is required because delays to inland waterway and feeder vessels in the past two months have resulted in surcharges and some services being diverted.

Leading barge operator Contargo and Hapag-Lloyd introduced surcharges – in the latter case a €75/TEU charge applies to all boxes moving through Rotterdam on “third-party feeder vessels”.
