The Suez Canal is becoming a far more important transport artery for ASEAN exports to and imports from the US east and Gulf coasts. The past five years have seen the Suez Canal gain market share, both at the expense of the Panama Canal and discharge over North American Pacific coast ports and intermodal rail services through the US interior.
