Greenock welcomes its biggest ever caller

Scotland’s deepest container terminal last week welcomed the largest container vessel ever to berth at the port

Greenock Ocean Terminal hosted the 267m long, 4045 TEU MSC POHORJE for 28 hours gross. The stopover saw the Clydeport team load 500 TEU of Scottish spirits destined for the French market over Le Havre.

“The new deep-water Liverpool2 container terminal is opening up a lot of exciting options for importers and exporters. Earlier this year, Greenock Ocean Terminal announced its intention to handle 200,000 TEU a year by 2021, double today's throughput. Plans to grow the terminal have also been drawn up to help the team reach their ambitions, including a 150m quayside extension.

This plan is very much predicated on Liverpool2 meeting Peel Ports' expectations.
