Wilhelmshaven adding more strings to its bow at Hamburg’s expense

In May, HHLA Hamburg learnt that Hapag-Lloyd, its anchor customer at and stakeholder in Container Terminal Altenwerder (CTA), would be transferring at least one Asia string to Container Terminal Wilhelmshaven (CTW) in 2023, when it takes delivery of new 23,500 TEU ultra large container vessels. In total, Hapag-Lloyd has ordered 12 such vessels with Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering Co.
