Insurance claims feeling the heat
According to Munich-headquartered Allianz Global Corporate & Speciality (AGCS), of 240,000 maritime insurance claims analysed over a five-year period up to the end of 2021, fires and explosions accounted for 18% of them, exceeding claims due to collisions and sinkings (17%) for the first time. Overall, though, the number of claims has been falling.
