FastShip deal for CP

In a surprise move, CP Ships has signed an agreement with FastShip Inc to assume commercial and marketing management for the latter’s planned transatlantic services. CP Ships is also taking a small equity position in FastShip.

As previously reported in WorldCargo News, Philadelphia-based FastShip is creating a high-speed transatlantic transport network, which will see four 40 knot, 1400 TEU vessels linking Philadelphia with Cherbourg in France. An advanced handling system developed by TTS in Norway and capable of (un)loading a FastShip at the rate of 750 TEU per ship hour will be installed in both ports.
