MSC starts Asia/Europe rail service

MSC, the world’s second largest container shipping company, has launched a combined sea-rail Asia-Europe service via Russia. In this respect, it is following the lead of its 2M partner, Maersk Line, which has been offering railand combined sea-rail services between Asia (mainly China) and Europe for more than a year.

As reported by WorldCargo News Online, PSA Pra’ (Voltri, Genoa) now has a regular intermodal train link with Basel, offering Swiss shippers and importers an alternative to the Antwerp-Rotterdam-Zeebrugge range ports and also offering steel wheel connectivity for points north of Switzerland for the Italian port. The contracted rail haulier is Switzerland’s BLS.
