Lars Kastrup has been appointed CEO of Pacific International Lines; Barbara Melvin takes over at South Carolina Ports Authority; new technical director for Duisport; new CEO for Visy Oy; new Supervisory Board chairman for MGI; new appointments at The London P&I Club, MyCrane and TMH North America; and other new appointments

Lars Kastrup has been appointed CEO of Pacific International Lines of Singapore (PIL). He joined the company in July 2020 as a senior advisor and later became a co -president and executive director and a member of the management, as part of a management reshuffle following PIL’s financial “bail out.” Kastrup is a former CEO of APL and and also held several management positions at CMA CGM Group. He started his career with A P Møller-Maersk. Meanwhile, Gan Chee Yen, a member of PIL’s senior management, has announced his resignation.

 

Barbara Melvin has taken up her new position as CEO and President of South Carolina Ports Authority, succeeding Jim Newsome, who served as president and CEO of SC Ports for the past 13 years.

 

The Supervisory Board of the Port of Duisburg AG (Duisport) has appointed Lars Nennhaus as Technical Director with effect from 1 January 2023, when he will succeed Prof. Thomas Schlipköther, who will be retiring, Nennhaus was previously with Duisport from 2011 -2018  as Director, Port & Logistics Development. He has also previously worked for Buss Group in Hamburg and is currently employed in a management position with the Hoyer Group.

Effective 1 August, Tomi Korpelainen will take the reins as the new CEO of Finland-based OCR specialist Visy Oy. Korpelainen, who has been with the company for more than 15 years, takes over from Petri Granroth, who has been CEO for 20 years. Granroth will assume the position of Chairman of the Board and will also continue in the daily operations of the company, managing relationships with large clients.

 

Marseilles, France: Denis Liotta is the new chairman of the Supervisory Board of MGI, the digital block chain specialist, replacing Xavier Lassalle, who has been chairman for the past 14 years. Lassalle remains on the Board as vice-chairman. Liotta, a director of the privately-owned Mediaco logistics group, which is also based in Marseilles, has been a member of the MGI supervisory Board for several years.

 

The Port of Toronto, which own and operates Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport and marine terminal, has announced the appointment of Roelof-Jan Steenstra as President and CEO. He will take up his new position in September 2022, when he joins the port from his current position as President and CEO of Fort McMurray Airport Authority. At Toronto, he follows Geoffrey Wilson, who announced his retirement in February.

 

Columbus, IND, USA: Toyota Material Handling has appointed Daniel Schumacher to its executive team as the company’s new Director of Information Technology (IT). He joins Toyota from Komatsu, where he served as Global Director of IT Applications and Digital Innovation. Schumacher has more than 20 years of IT experience with previous roles in various “technological pathways.” He has experience within and outside the material handling industry.

Dubai, UAE: Digital crane rental company MyCrane has appointed industry veteran Piet Kraaijeveld as COO. Nearly all MyCrane executives including the CEO have an industry background with Mammoet and Kraaijeveld is no exception, having spent 18 years in management roles at Mammoet, serving in Canada and Dubai. Most recently he worked in Dubai as strategic account manager for Ritchie Bros, the international auctioneer for heavy industrial equipment.

 

The London P&I Club has announced two new appointments to its Hong Kong office. Deborah Yu, who has worked for the London P&I Club since 2007, has been named as the new General Manager. She replaces Frank He, who is leaving at the end of June after nine years of service to take on a senior role at one of the PRC’s leading international shipping companies. Fiona Pounds, who joined the Club in 2019, becoming an Associate Claims Director in 2021, will take over as Deputy General Manager of the Hong Kong office.

 

Van Ameyde Marine, the Netherlands-headquartered marine surveying, consultancy, and loss prevention group, has appointed Rob Chesters as its new Global Business Development Manager. Based in the UK, Chesters has a remit to work with teams across group to develop a global strategy and service offering. He has more than 20 years business development experience in the maritime services sector, having held senior positions with Wilhelmsen Ships Service and Oceanic Technical Solutions.

 

Bolloré Logistics has appointed Jean-Baptiste Buée as head of Luxury for the Americas. Based in New Jersey, Buée will report to Marc Sawaya, VP, Sales, North America. This recruitment comes after the recent appointment of Nathalie Leger as global vice president of the Luxury, Perfumes and Cosmetics vertical and will support the company’s strategy to expand its activities in the luxury sector.

 

Manchester. UK: Cardinal Global Logistics has appointed Kelly Hobson as chief marketing and sustainability officer. She joins Cardinal from Ligenta, where she was employed as group marketing director for the past six years. She was the founder consultancy firm Shape Tomorrow is still Ambassador for the logistics charity Transaid.
