Erik Noklebye is the new CEO of Wallenius Line; former Maersk Line CEO joins HES International; new SVP appointment at Crowley; Combi Lift appoints senior business director; new appointments at Finnlines, Svitzer, ports of Karlshamm, Associated British Ports and Ports of Indiana; changes at VTG; new CEO for Coyote Logistics and new VP for Global Critical Logistics

Erik Noklebye has been appointed as the new CEO of Walleniusrederienna AB (Wallenius Line). He follows Jonas Kleberg, who will be chairman of Wallenius and the parent company, Soya Group. Noklebye was formerly managing director of Wallenius Lines in South Korea.

 

Rotterdam, NL: HES International, Europe’s largest independent bulk terminal operator, has appointed Søren Skou, Maersk Line’s CEO between 2016 and 2022, as the independent chairmain of HES’ Supervisory Board; and Joop de Rooij,  the former COO of Fetim trading group, as CCO. Skou serves as the Chairman of the Maersk McKinney Moller Center for Zero Carbon Shipping, and as Vice Chairman of Nokia. De Rooij is a former Chairman of Corporate Finance and COO of KPMG Advisory, an Industry Advisor and Operating Partner at Advent Private Equity, and as CFO of SHV Holding.

 

Crowley has appointed leader James Fowler as SVP and general manager of its Crowley Shipping business unit that serves various US and international maritime and logistics sectors. Fowler most recently served as managing director of marine and stevedoring operations for Cooper Marine and EVP for Blakeley BoatWorks, both headquartered in Mobile, (AL).  Cooper Marine’s operations include 22 towing vessels, 450 hopper barges, and one of the country’s largest fleets of dry bulk gantry and floating derrick cranes.

Esmeralda Smith-Garcia has joined Combi Lift’s projects team as Senior Director, Business Development. The post is based in the Houston, Texas office. She has more than 20 years‘ experience in project cargo logistics and has joined the heavy lift/project cargo shipping company from DB Schenker.

 

Helsinki, Finland: Suvi Niemivuo has been appointed as Head of Legal, Insurance and Claims Department as of 1 October 2023. In addition to this appointment, she will join Finnlines’ Executive Committee and report to Tom Pippingsköld, President and CEO of Finnlines. Suvi Niemivuo has been the Acting Head of Legal, Insurance and Claims and a member of Finnlines’ Board of Management since May this year.

 

Mattias Hellström has been promoted to global CCO of Svitzer, having served as CCO of Svitzer Europe for the last three years. He replaces Videlina Georgieva, who was recently promoted to managing director of Svitzer Australia. Hellström was previously managing director of Svitzer Scandinavia and before that he worked for MSC and for Maersk

 

Los Angeles, CA, USA: Global Critical Logistics has announced the appointment of Amanda Barlow as Vice President of Risk Management and Business Affairs. She has joined GCL from Roanoke Insurance Group, where she was SVP.

Caroline Säfström

Caroline Säfström will succeed Mats Olsson as the new CEO of Sweden’s Port of Karlshamn, when the latters retires at the end of this year, after 12 years in ports. A civil engineer, Mrs Säfström joins the port from Affärsverken in Karlskrona.

 

Associated British Ports (ABP) is looking to expand its investment portfolio with the introduction of a new property asset management role for the business. The UK’s leading port operator has appointed Rob Morton as Lead Property Asset Manager in its Humber-based property team. He will be responsible for identifying new business opportunities through the management and building of relationships with new and existing ABP customers and hold responsibility for asset management and property development projects. ABP operates four ports in the Humber and has an extensive development land bank with the appetite to acquire further strategic land holdings.

Ashley Blocker and Michael Graves

Pandeep Pisipati

Ports of Indiana has appointed Ashley Blocker and Michael Graves as operations managers at the Ohio River ports of Mount Vernon and Jeffersonville respectively. Mrs Blocker has been promoted from her position as operations analyst for Ports of Indiana Mount Vernon, while Michael Graves joins from SM&E Engineering where he was a senior engineer, project coordinator and site manager.

 

Hamburg Germany: Thomas Jäger will become new COO, a newly-created position, and take charge of VTG Group’s operating business from January 1, 2024. Thomas Jussen, Deputy Head of Production, will leave the company at the end of this month;  and Andreas Roj will take over as Head of Strategic Procurement in February 2025. Jäger will be appointed as managing director at Group subsidiaries VTG Rail Europe GmbH and VTG Rail Logistics GmbH. He will also manage the procurement of new assets, including internal and external repair and maintenance capacity. Jäger joins VTG was DB Cargo, where he rose to the rank of Senior Vice President Traction Service Purchasing and Head of the Strategic Program Optimization of Capital Expenditures.

 

Chicago (IL), USA: Pandeep Pisipati has been promoted from CFO to CEO at Coyote Logistics, Inc, which has been part of UPS since 2015 and has operations throughout North America and Northern Europe. Pisipati has been working for Coyote since 2018 and the appointment comes after the departure of Jonathan Sisler, who had been with the company for 15 years and was CEO for five years. No new CFO has yet been announced.
