Another Gottwald for Korea

News-in-print

Following the delivery last year of three Gottwald Quaymate M50 MHCs to South Korea, in August, South Korean terminal operator Pyeongtaek Dangjin Central Terminal Co Ltd (PDCT) put a new Konecranes Gottwald Model 4 MHC into operation.

The crane handles bulk and general cargo in the port, situated around 80 km south of Seoul. For particularly eco-efficient operation, it is equipped with an external power supply to hook up to the terminal’s mains electricity.

PDCT, a joint venture of South Korean logistic groups KCTC Co Ltd and Sebang Co Ltd, acquired its first Gottwald MHC in 1989, and today KCTC operates three cranes, and Sebang two. The new HMK 440, with a maximum lifting capacity of 100t and an outreach of up to 46m, replaces the now almost 30-yearold crane.

J H Park, executive director of PDCT, said: “The cranes have significantly contributed to the sustainable growth of our two companies’ handling rates.”

Giuseppe Di Lisa, sales and marketing director, MHCs, Konecranes, said: “Our success in South Korea is also due to the excellent relationship between PDCT and our local organization. The latest PDCT order includes a tailor-made service package.”
