SNCF takes Ermewa

Subject to the approval of the relevant competition authorities, the Transport and Logistics Division of SNCF (French Rail) will take 100% control of Switzerlandbased wagon rental and tank container leasing company Ermewa by buying out the majority 50.4% stake held by Investors in Private Equity. SNCF already holds the remaining 49.6% stake in the company.

Ermewa manages a fleet of 21,000 specialised rail wagons aimed primarily at the transport of hazardous and non-hazardous liquids, gaseous and bulk products, and owns the world’s second largest tank container lessor, Eurotainer, which has a fleet of 24,000 tanks. Through CCR, it also owns 16,000 intermediate bulk containers (IBCs) and mini tanks.
