In January 2012, GE Transportation finalised the acquisition of software provider RMI from The Carlyle Group. By adding RMI, GE expanded its software capabilities to include the RailConnect Transport Management System, used by nearly 400 railroads, and the OASIS Intermodal Terminal Operating System, installed at 107 intermodal terminals across North America.

RMI is now part of the Optimisation Solutions business, a division within Intelligent Transportation Solutions under GE Transportation. Ed McQuillan, product management leader for the OASIS Intermodal TOS, said the process of embedding OASIS into the GE Transportation organisation is complete.
