TransContainer expands its flatcar fleet

Singapore-based X-Press Feeders, which is the world’s largest common carrier feeder company, will deploy a series of dual-fuel vessels, powered by green methanol, on various Scandinavia-Baltic services next year. The line has 14 vessels capable of loading 1,250 TEU of this design on order, with deliveries commencing in Q1 2024 and extending into 2026.

Several owners are believed to be contemplating orders for much larger PCTCs with Wallenius Wilhelmsen recently ordering four ships of 9,600 CEU from China Merchants Jinling Shipyard (Nanjing) Co. Ltd. Meanwhile, Seoul-based Hyundai Glovis is rumoured to be close to finalising a deal worth more than US$1.8B for 12 x 10,800 CEU vessels.
