ADIF, the Spanish rail infrastructure manager, has awarded a UTE (ad hoc joint venture) of Hupac Ibérica and TPNova Rail & Logistic Services a 20-year concession to operate La Llagosta terminal

Hupac Ibérica is the local affiliate of Swiss-based multimodal operator Hupac, while TPNova Rail & Logistic Services SL (originally known as Transportes Portuarias) is an established rail logistics company in Spain, offering connectivity to terminals throughout Europe.

Together the companies will operate the 105,000 m2 terminal, starting in Q2 2025. The UTE has committed to invest at least €12M in the terminal development. ADIF has itself already invested around €97M.

La Llagosta is just 15 kms from Barcelona city and is considered a strategic multimodal hub for the Mediterranean axis, mostly serving intermodal and automotive sector customers. It can accommodate trains with lengths of up to 750m on Iberian gauge. A connection to the standard gauge Mediterranean Corridor line is planned.
