Finland – London short sea run inaugurated
NewsFinnlines is set to launch a new short sea freight service this month (Sept ’24) from Finland to Peel Ports London Medway and other destinations around Europe
Belgian entrepreneur Jeroen Le Jeune has acquired a 68% stake in rail freight traction specialist Crossrail from Australian investment company Babcock & Brown Infrastructure
The purchase increases Le Jeune’s take to around 80%, with Ronny Dillen retaining the balance.
In 2002 Le Jeune and Dillen co-founded Dillen & LeJeune Cargo (DLC), based in Antwerp, to offer competing services to B-Cargo, the freight division of the SNCB.
In 2007 DLC merged with Crossrail, owned by BBI, and became Crossrail Benelux. In effect this extended Crossrail’s operating licences in Switzerland and Italy to the Rhine sea port range.
Also in 2007, Crossrail sold its intermodal operations to Ewals Cargo Care, to concentrate on transalpine rail traction services.
