Canadian National Railway (CN) has developed a new container chassis that is expected to reduce fuel consumption in the drayage of containers to and from its intermodal terminals by 8-10%.

Called EcoRide, the new design is equipped with a series of features that reduce fuel consumption, and hence greenhouse gas emissions, including side skirts to reduce aerodynamic drag, a weight 15% lower than conventional CN chassis and low-rolling resistance tyres on each axle instead of the standard four tyres per axle.
