Textainer stays on course

Indian company scores a major success, while a robust leasing and rental market is helping the wheels go round.

The past two-to-three years have seen a spate of corporate activity in the maritime container leasing industry with investment funds, and particularly those focused on transport infrastructure, eager to buy into the sector.

Textainer is the latest leasing company to have a new ownership structure following the decision of its management to sell the company to Stonepeak, an alternative investment firm based in New York, in a deal worth US$7.4B.

Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan Board has sold an undisclosed number of shares in SeaCube Container Leasing to London-based Wren House Infrastructure Management Limited. The two companies will now operate under a so-called “co-control structure of the leasing company”
