QTerminals Kramer Rotterdam’s RTW-II connects to CER

QTerminals Kramer Rotterdam and the Port of Rotterdam Authority have signed an agreement regarding a temporary connection of the Rail Terminal West II (RTW-II) site to the Container Exchange Route (CER).

CER, a 17-kilometre closed road network, was put into operation in 2023. The road network connects a large part of the terminals, depots, distribution centres and the State Inspection Terminal on Maasvlakte. Only transport companies with an Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) licence issued by customs can use it to transport containers from one location to another.

RTW-II is a temporary location of QTerminals Kramer Rotterdam situated on the Magallanestraat on the Maasvlakte. RTW-II will be connected via the CER to other locations of QTerminals Kramer Rotterdam (RCT, KCL/DCS, KDD), the State Inspection Terminal of Dutch Customs, Rotterdam World Gateway (RWG) terminal and the ECT Delta terminal.

With the agreement for the temporary connection of RTW-II, all terminals and depots of QTerminals Kramer Rotterdam will be connected to the CER in the near future. The KDD and RTW-II connections will be completed in the course of this year, the port authority said.

The 17-kilometre-long closed road network currently links terminals and depots of QTerminals Kramer Rotterdam, RWG, the Delta terminal of Hutchison Ports ECT Rotterdam (ECT) and the State Inspection Terminal.

The port authority added that since the end of last year, the volumes transported on the road network have been steadily increasing and thousands of trips have now taken place.

In the near future, new connections with terminals, depots and distribution centres are expected. The Port Authority aims to connect as many container companies as possible with the CER, as long as they have the option of a physical link.
