Konecranes has received an order for two Konecranes Noell RTGs and two Konecranes Gottwald MHCs from Kudos Trucking Company for its container terminal in Davao City, the Philippines
Kudos Trucking Company (KTC) is a new customer for Konecranes, but the company operates container mast trucks from the former Fantuzzi. These were referenced by Jefferson Tao, General Manager of KTC, when he said: “We’ve had a consistently good experience with lift trucks under Konecranes’ legacy brands…so when the time came to increase terminal capacity, we thought it would be worth investing in more Konecranes machines. And we were also pleased that we could get all the cranes we needed from a single supplier.”
The economy of the Philippines is growing rapidly and KTC is handling more and more containers. The agreement marks the next growth step for a company that started as a general cargo and container haulier, then moved into container depot operations (key customers include Evergreen) and now has its own port terminal in Davao, on the southern Philippines island of Mindanao.
The Gottwald MHCs are Model 5 cranes have a maximum capacity under hook of 125 tons and are able to work ships up to post-Panamax size. Slated for delivery at the end of this year, they will be fitted with electric drives and cable reels for clean and quiet opetations.
The two Konecranes Noell RTGs have a 41 tons SWL and two-speed engines to reduce fuel consumption significantly during idling. They will be delivered in June 2020.
“We are happy to help create a further success story in the Philippines,” says Jerry Fann, Sales Director of Port Cranes, Konecranes Port Solutions. “In particular, this combined order underlines the strength of our offering - the widest and deepest in container handling.”
Separately, Konecranes has received an order from Klaipeda Container Terminal (KCT) in Lithuania for two STS cranes, which will be delivered in Q1 2021.
KCT already operates eight Konecranes RTGs and two Konecranes STS cranes. and it took delivery of a Konecranes Gottwald MHC in June this year.
Konecranes is due to deliver two STS cranes to rival operators Klaipedos Smelte towards the end of this year.
