Konecranes wants to find a new owner for its straddle carrier manufacturing operations in Würzburg to bolster efficiency, following a review of both internal and external operations.

The new hybrid straddle carriers are part of a fleet renewal programme aimed at improving the Med Europe Terminal’s environmental performance.

Port activities halted entirely on 11th March, encompassing ship loading and unloading as well as container pickup and delivery operations.

Cargo bound for Finland will still be loaded as scheduled, with transhipment in Tallinn, albeit with an additional freight adjustment of EUR 350 per container.

In February of this year alone, Russia’s container market rose by 23.5 per cent year-on-year to 533,000 TEU. The preceding month also saw growth.

The unions emphasize their willingness to suspend the strikes if the Government demonstrates an understanding of employees’ concerns.
