New German port strategy heavily criticised for the “money later” angle

Total throughput at the Port of Duisburg, the world’s largest inland port, increased 10% last year to 49.7 mt, with traffic transported by inland waterway vessels and by rail increasing by 8%, twice as much as the average for all German ports. Ship-borne volumes increased by 5% to 15.6 mt, while rail freight grew by 14% to 10.1 mt.
