Brazilian government pushes ahead with ports privatisation
NewsAt least 19 auctions are planned this year and as many as 35 over the next three years, according to Brazil’s Ministry of Ports and Airports (MoPA).
Brazil’s president Dilma Rousseff has released the names of the first 50 port terminals that could be constructed by the private sector using the new regulatory framework that came into force on 5 June. One of these is located at Guarujá, at the start of the access channel to the Port of Santos, which is being promoted by the Brazilian branch of the Italian multinational company Saipem.
