Hutchison Ports litigates in dispute over T5 concession in Buenos Aires

Buenos Aires operator Hutchison Ports BACTSSA is to take legal action over a decision by Argentina’s National Ports Authority (AGP) not to extend its Terminal 5 concession beyond 15 May 2021.

A new controversy has hit the Port of Buenos Aires after a Coast Guard (PNA) permit for a 243m long container vessel to call at Murchison’s Terminal Zaraté (TZ), located 100 kms upstream on the deeper Paraná River, was suddenly revoked without a clear explanation. It is alleged that the PNA was “got at” by a Buenos Aires port operator.
