Philadelphia prioritises trucks over ships

The US government grant will go towards to building a new US$130M deep-water berth in Southport.

The state’s Governor, Thomas Wolf, said that the incentive scheme for container cargo via the ports of Pennsylvania is being extended for a further 18 months to the end of 2022

Following an earlier order for two STS cranes from ZPMC, two more similar cranes, capable of handling ships up to New Panamax size, have been ordered by the Port of Philadelphia, which now uses the trading name PhilaPort. It is not known if Nos. 3 and 4 are options under the first contract, but they represent a new investment of US$23.5M. The first two are scheduled to arrive in March 2018, and the next two in April 2019.

The Port of Philadelphia is to receive $300M in state funding to upgrade infrastructure and equipment.

Numbers overall are fairly steady, but ZPMC has further increased its market share.

Holt Logistics Corp has invested around US$1M (US$0.7M) in two new Hyster reach stackers, both model HR4531, for operation at the Packer Avenue Marine Terminal (PAMT) in the Port of Philadelphia. PAMT is operated for the port authority by a Holt affiliate, Greenwich Terminals LLC.
