China hits new box handling record

China’s ports handled 282.7M TEU in 2021, a 7% increase on the previous year. River ports posted the strongest rate of growth, with volumes rising 11% to 33.4M TEU. In 2021, more river ports handled ships employed on international trade lanes and this process will continue in 2022.
