ICTSI’s VCT welcomes new MHCs
NewsNew ESP.5 Gottwald MHCs from Konecranes have arrived at Visayas Container Terminal, boosting the facility’s operational capacity.
Hutchison Ports’ TIMSA terminal has taken delivery of a Konecranes Gottwald MHC that can handle a 22-row vessel.
On April 7, HPH’s TIMSA terminal, in Manzanillo, Mexico, took delivery of a Konecranes Gottwald HMK 8512 mobile harbour crane. The crane cost $8.85 million and is capable of handling maximum loads of 125 tonnes, including laden 20-foot container handling.
With a 64m boom and the tower cab mounted at a height of 43m, the G HMK 8512 variant was developed to serve large container vessels with containers stacked up to 22 rows across and 9-high on deck. According to TIMSA, the HMK 8512’s latest generation of Siemens electronic control technology will notably increase productivity when handling larger post-Panamax box vessels.
Additionally, in 2023, TIMSA plans to acquire three electric empty container handlers, three electric terminal tractors and three electric FLTs.
Throughput at the terminal reached 300,186 TEU in 2022.
