Terbergs to Valencia

News

APM Terminals Valencia has taken delivery of 11 new Terberg terminal tractors as part of an upgrade.

The tractors are Terberg model YT223 with a Cummins Stage 5 engine. They are part of a €3.6M investment that includes relocating four RTGs with a 50t lifting capacity from Castellón, where APM Terminals says it prefers reachstackers “for yard management due to technical and safety requirements.”

After arriving by sea, the RTGs were fitted with upgraded systems including GPS, a self-aligning system, and collision prevention before commissioning.

The upgrade also includes a new gate lane for trucks, which will increase the number of access lanes to the terminal from five to six. “Equipped with Optical Character Recognition and License Plate Recognition, they will be able to automatically read container and truck details. Built in weighing platforms will be able to calculate the container weight (VGM) and transfer this to the Terminal Operating System. The new gates will be operational in the third quarter of 2023,” APM Terminals stated.
