CLdN trebles up Rotterdam – Dublin sailings
NewsCLdN from landlocked Luxembourg makes a big splash with even more Rotterdam – Dublin cargo sailings.
With the end of the Brexit transitional phase in view on 31st December 2020 and likely disruption to Dover Straits accompanied freight, CLdN is increasing capacity on services to London (Purfleet) and Humberside (Killingholme)
Last week the operator added 25% extra capacity on both the Rotterdam-London and Rotterdam-Humberside routes. In addition and from week 42, an extra vessel will be deployed and thus a third daily sailing will be added on the Zeebrugge-London route to serve the growing demand.
Whether by accident or design, CLdN got its timing right, as P&O European Ferries is pulling the plug on its Hull-Zeebrugge ro-pax service, which was down to one sailing each way in any case due to Covid. It is understood that PRIDE OF YORK and PRIDE OF BRUGES will be sold.
P&O European Ferries is also cutting back on Dover-Calais. Two vessels currently in lay-up, EUROPEAN SEAWAY and PRIDE OF BURGUNDY, will not be returned to service.
In any event, CLdN says that over the last months, “[we] have seen a steady growth in customer demand for our reliable, low cost and Brexit -proof unaccompanied freight product. Shipping unaccompanied trailers, (tank) containers, finished vehicles or project cargo between our own ferry terminals provides a ‘one stop shop’ to get goods shipped across the North Sea without running the risk of disruption.”
The company has maintained its regular sailing schedules on all routes throughout the Covid period and says is there “to serve the market with robust and reliable products going forwards.”
