K Line trials B100 biofuel on board a car carrier
NewsK Line wraps up maiden trial of marine B100 biofuel aboard the car carrier Apollon Highway.
The Japanese carrier has signed multiple mid-long term consecutive voyage charters (CVCs) for coastwise trades with India’s JSW Steel Ltd
JSW Steel is one one of the largest steel makers and the CVCs are for Capesized- and Supramax-sized tonnage.
According to K-Line, this is the first contract ever for Capesized tonnage in Indian coastal trade under mid-long term CVCs. Supramax vessels owned by K Line (India) Shipping Pte Ltd have been performing Indian coastal and international trade carrying a variety of cargoes such as iron ore, coal, limestone and steel products for JSW Steel since 2014. These contract have been renewed. The existing and new contracts mean that K Line will be transporting around 10 Mtpa for JSW Steel.
The joint venture K Line (India) Shipping Pte Ltd was established in 2008 to expand businesses in India and was established in 2014 as Indian flagged ship owning company.
In its Medium-Term Management Plan published in May, K line defined the iron ore carrier business as one of its top priority areas for driving growth in Asia. “K Line will fulfil customers’ increasing transport demands and environmental needs such as emissions reduction and decarbonisation for the sustainable growth of business and development of the society,” said a company statement.
