Finland – London short sea run inaugurated
NewsFinnlines is set to launch a new short sea freight service this month (Sept ’24) from Finland to Peel Ports London Medway and other destinations around Europe
Starting from January 2024, Finnlines will consolidate its Biscay services with a twice a week connection linking the ports of Bilbao, Vigo and Zeebrugge
Three new Eco series vessels will be deployed in the service, providing more cargo capacity for any type of freight along with innovative energy-saving technology. There will be twice-weekly sailings from both Zeebrugge and Bilbao on Wednesdays and Saturdays while from Vigo the service will leave on Thursdays and Sundays.
Through Zeebrugge (Port of Antwerp-Bruges) connecting services are available to Ireland, England, Norway and Sweden; from Antwerp shippers can access the Grimaldi network to North and South America, West Africa and the Far East.
“Finnlines transports your goods with a focus on sustainability and reliability, maintaining lower CO2 emissions compared to road transport. The strengthening of the service between Bilbao, Vigo and Zeebrugge aims to offer a sustainable and reliable alternative to road transportation,” said Blasco Majorana, Finnlines Line Manager.
“The development of Motorways of the Sea has been at the very core of our Group activities for years and we are therefore delighted by the trust received from our stakeholders, who are supporting our actions also in the Bay of Biscay.”
