Per von Appen to take over at Ultrabulk next January; changes at Buss HGK Logistics; new Commissioner for ports of Amsterdam; new appointments at ST Engineering; new manager for ABP Hams Hall

Per Lange (right) is stepping down as CEO of Danish dry bulk shipping company Ultrabulk, part of Chile’s Ultranav group (Von Appen) on January 1st 2022, after 11 years in post. He will be replaced by Per von Appen, who previously ran Ultrabulk between 2004 and 2010, when it merged with Eitzen Bulk. Lange joined is staying with the group as he take over the less demanding role of managing director of Ultranav Denmark. Per von Appen has previously worked at Galbraith, Oldendorff and Cape Tankers, and was VP, handy-sized, and later EVP at Transmares.

 

Evert den Boer, the CEO of the Enexis Group and former chairman of Greenchoice, has been elected as the new Commissioner of the Ports of Amsterdam.

 

David Penschek has joined the management team of Buss HGK Logistics, replacing Wolfgang Nowak, who will concentrate on driving the expansion of the HKG Group’s short sea business in future. Penschek will retain his role as head of corporate development at HGK Shipping alongside his new duties. He formerly worked for Lehnkering, later Imperial, before moving to Duisport in 2018. In his new position, Penschek shares the management of the company’s operations business with Morten Lund. Buss HGK Logistics is a joint venture of HGK Shipping and the Hamburg-based port services provider Buss Port Logistics.

Singapore:  ST Engineering, which is, inter alia, heavily involved in PSA Singapore’s AGV programme, has appointed Tan Lee Chew as President, Commercial and also as a member of the Group Executive Committee (GEC). Reporting to Group President & CEO Vincent Chong, Lee Chew will oversee and drive growth for the Commercial cluster, which comprises three business areas: Commercial Aerospace, Urban Solutions and Satellite Communications. As of fiscal 2020-21 closing on 30 June 2021, this sector accounted for close to 50% of group revenue. With Lee Chew’s appointment, Lim Serh Ghee will relinquish his role as CCO, but remains on the GEC as CCO until his planned retirement on 30 October 2021, after 37 years with the group, including the post of President, Aerospace sector from 2014 to 2020. Lee Chew has joined from Amazon Web Services where she was the Managing Director, Worldwide Public Sector (ASEAN) responsible for leading new business growth through the adoption of AWS services as an enabler to deliver technology transformation at scale for organisations. Prior to that, she was with Hewlett-Packard Enterprise for more than 20 years, last serving as the Senior Vice President of global Hybrid IT Sales and Category Management based in Palo Alto, California. Other new appointments at ST Engineering include: Cheryl Chan as Group Chief Strategy & Sustainability Officer; Low Ka Hoe as President, Satellite Communications; and Lim Kok Ann as President, Land Systems.

 

Associated British Ports (ABP) has appointed Chris Durrant to the role of Terminal Manager for the Hams Hall region. Hams Hall, owned and operated by ABP, is one of the country’s busiest inland freight terminals. Durrant brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in container operation to this role, having previously worked for the Port of Felixstowe in senior operations and rail roles for over 16 years.

 

Quantron AG, the Germany-based electric drives specialist, has appointed Michael Perschke as CEO and Board member, bringing further international EV expertise on board for its EV & FCEV systems for buses and trucks. Perschke was Founder-CEO of Automobili Pininfarina, Senior Director at Audi AG, Managing Director Audi India and Director Steering of NSCs in the Volkswagen Group.

 

London, UK: Specialist engineering and technology insurer HSB has appointed Mathew Prentice as Cyber Product Lead. Based in Birmingham and reporting to Andy Bazley, Underwriting Strategy Manager, he will be responsible for the development and implementation of HSB’s underwriting strategy for the computer and cyber account in the UK and Ireland. He has been with HSB since 2014, having previously worked as an underwriter for Aviva.
