NewsStinis Spreaders is delivering an increasing number of telescoping spreaders for STS cranes with a six flat flippers per spreader, as opposed to the traditional configuration of four corner flippers.
IMT Genova (International Marine Terminal), part of the Messina Group, has been engaged in a heavy equipment investment programme over the past year and more, upgrading its fleet, and buying new machines as replacements or additions, as its traffic continues to increase, and 16 more dockers will join the workforce before the end of June. The details are shown in the accompanying table.
The terminal has just handled the first vessel call of MSC’s Thyrrenium service, which connects Genoa with the main destinations in the Western Mediterranean and, via Gioia Tauro, with the Middle East.
IMT markets a “Full Customer Service and Care” multipurpose service, covering containers, ro-ro, general cargo, exceptional loads, etc, including intermodal rail loading (for Milan- Segrate, Brescia, Dinazzano and Venice), customs and bonded warehousing, cargo stuffing/ stripping, cargo cross-docking and sorting, and container repairs. Last year, IMT handled 230,000 TEU in lo-lo, 85,000t of rolling cargo, and 26,500t of breakbulk general cargo. (Also see p17).
