Lowering the GWP
NewsRegulations are emerging in the US, and potentially in Europe, that will change the refrigerant landscape for the reefer container sector.
Shipping line leases 6,000 reefer containers equipped with Carrier Transicold PrimeLINE machinery.
Taiwan’s Yang Ming Marine Transport Corp has leased 6,000 40-ft high-cube reefer containers with Carrier Transicold’s PrimLINE reefer machinery, as part of a fleet renewal programme. 500 of the containers will be equipped with Carrier’s Lynx Fleet devices to support remote reefer monitoring, diagnostics and data analysis.
The order is an important breakthrough for Carrier as it is its first time it has supplied reefer machinery to Yang Ming for 25 years. Leow Eng Meng, Sales Director, Asia, Global Container Refrigeration, Carrier Transicold, said the company is” excited to reignite this relationship with the current business.”
Carrier added that its PrimeLINE unit has been the industry sales leader for over 15 years, and features an energy-conserving digital scroll compressor, fast temperature pull-down with an economised vapour injection system, tight temperature control within +/- 0.25 degree Celsius, high air flow thanks to its “aero-space inspired fan”, and excellent cost of ownership.
In April 2021 SeaCube purchased 2,000 reefer containers with Carrier Lynx devices and became the first leasing company to offer the Lynx platform, but WorldCargo News was unable to confirm which leasing company is supplying the 6,000 reefers to Yang Ming for this order.
