Noatum Málaga drops boxes

While InterSagunto Terminales is pushing for shortsea and feeder traffic at Sagunto (see “Gearing up”, p9), further down the coast in Málaga, Noatum is giving up on containers.

From a high of around 500,000 TEU/year prior to the 2008-09 crisis, throughput declined to just 90,000 TEU last year, and in the first half of this year only 15,000 TEU crossed the quay. The company is turning its attention to the dry bulk sector, particularly agribulks, where it sees good opportunities.
