DCB’s path to automation

Russia’s Commercial Seaport of Vladivostok (VMTP, part of FESCO Transportation Group – now state-owned through Rostam) is increasing its fleet of cargo handling equipment and upgrading its infrastructure.

Modena (Italy)-based port equipment broker Port Supplies Srl has recently transferred four mobile harbour cranes (MHCs) to and within the Mediterranean. Historically, the region is home to one of the densest populations of MHCs in the world and it is an established and ready market for pre-owned cranes.

Over the years, Gottwald has been very successful in supplying pontoon-mounted cranes for bulk cargo lightering and mid-stream barge-to-ship operations on the Lower Mississippi River.

The heavy lift/project cargo market is expected to post relatively strong rates of growth over the coming years and shipowners and operators are investing heavily in the sector.

Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding (Mitsui E&S) has received a substantial order for container handling equipment from the Port of Haiphong Joint Stock Company in Vietnam.

Siemens Crane Competence Center for the Europe Middle East and Africa region based in Portugal has now carried out modernisation and digitisation work on 100 port cranes in 13 countries. Currently the company is working on projects in the ports of Leixões and Setúbal, Portugal, Taranto (Italy) and Salalah (Oman).
